Barcelona at Navidad

This post is mostly pictures, and mostly at night. Many streets in Barcelona, from grand avenues to narrow warrens, are decorated consistently throughout their lengths, so you can recognize where you are simply by their decor. Some get new decorations each season, and they try to match the character of the area. This year, one of the new sets is on a street with a lot of businesses associated with graphic design, so it has a manga look. Another in an older, traditional area consists of tile-like designs constructed from pieces of a particular flower. Maybe you can spot those. Some of the pictures are singles, while others try to capture the long view down the entire road.

Both public and private buildings are decorated, and several of the prominent ones have lights that change as you watch. I only felt two of those were good enough to include.

These are cell phone pictures taken either from walking or from a bus, so please set your expectations accordingly!

I will probably take a break from blogging for a week or two around the holiday. We hope that your holiday season includes love, light, joy, and repose. In the last shot you may spy someone you know waving goodbye.

Love, Jo and Bill

Find a 55-second video of a motion display at Recinte Monderniste de Sant Pau here. The architect is Montaner, whom I consider a creative peer of Gaudi.
